Pippa Middleton the inspiration behind Kristen Stewart’s wedding gown?

The wedding dress Kristen Stewart wears in Twilight Breaking Dawn caused almost as much of a stir as the gown Kate Middleton wore for the Royal Wedding, in April this year.

Twihards across the globe were desperate to know details of the dress Kristen would wear as Bella Swan married Edward Cullen in the vampire flick, so much so, the director went to great lengths to keep it a secret, not only from press and fans, but also cast and crew.

Now, as the movie breaks box office records, viewers have marvelled at the stunning gown in all its glory and many have noted that the elegant style is reminiscent of the Alexander McQueen bridesmaid dress Pippa Middleton donned for her big sister’s wedding.

The gorgeous gown, designed by Carolina Herrera, is made out of crepe satin and French Chantilly lace and the back features 152 covered buttons, similar to the button-down-the-back frock which saw Pippa, and her shapely bottom, hit the headlines.

Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon are said to have selected the final design out of ten sketches that Carolina submitted.

The handmade gown took six months to create and the iconic movie item is valued at approx $35,000.

Just like Pip’s, it is a classic, elegant, simple design, but the back is a little more detailed, with a ‘romantic’ surprise sheer panel with scrolled embroidery.

Speaking to STV showbiz reporter Grant Lauchlan, in an interview which aired on Friday November 18, the day Breaking Dawn went on general release, Bill Condon explained: “It’s Friday night now but up until today, nobody had seen that wedding dress and I can’t tell you how hard that is to keep a secret like that in the world we live in.

“It was kind of weird cause when Kristen first walked down the aisle, suddenly we heard this stuff and there was a helicopter high up, but it was paparazzi so we had this thing where we covered everything, we stopped it, I don’t know how we convinced them to move on.

“No one on set, on the location saw her till she took that walk down that aisle.

We had her in this room that was covered. It was this super secret thing.”
